Set up N1MM+

Do this once. N1MM+ remembers it.

This page is generated from the program's own N1MM+ setup guide for version 0.1.5, so it matches the software.

The bridge is validated on a real FT-710. These N1MM+ steps follow N1MM+'s documentation; an on-air check with N1MM+ is still pending (#5).

  1. Set up the radio first: on the FT-710, set the menu OPERATION SETTING → GENERAL → SCU-LAN10 to ON. This makes the radio send its scope over USB. Details: Setting up your Yaesu radio.
  2. Keep N1MM+ connected to the FT-710 for CAT as usual (Config → Configure Ports…). The bridge does not use the CAT COM port.
  3. Start N1MM Scope Bridge first (Start menu, or the desktop shortcut) and press Start, so N1MM+ can see its source name. The default name is the radio model, for example FT-710; change it in the window's settings (or with --name on the command line).
  4. Open Window → Spectrum Display.
  5. Click the gear icon. In the Spectrum Source pane, choose For all other radios, source named, then pick the bridge's name from the External Source Name list (or type it).
  6. For SO2R, choose Radio 1 or Radio 2 in General Options to match the radio the bridge is reading.

The bridge sends the frequency edges and the dB scaling factor with every packet, so N1MM+ needs no manual span or scaling setup.

Running N1MM+ on another PC

N1MM+ listens on UDP 13064. Set N1MM+ PC in the bridge's settings to that PC's name or address (--host <ip> on the command line), and allow inbound UDP 13064 in that PC's firewall.
